The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore understands the need for foreign workers in Singapore to maintain a strong relationship with their direct family members. Therefore, they have designed the Dependant’s Pass
to ensure that an employee can have their family living with them while they work in the country.
All Employment Pass holders (including P1, P2, Q1 and Personalised Employment Pass) as well as S Pass Holders
are eligible to apply for a Dependant’s Pass for their family members. The following family members will qualify for application:
- A spouse who is legally married to the Employment or S Pass holder. Common Law marriages are not recognised for a Dependant’s Pass and an official marriage certificate will need to be submitted to MOM.
- Natural or legally adopted children under the age of 21 years who are unmarried. A valid and full birth certificate naming the parents of the child will need to accompany the Dependant’s Pass application. In the case of adopted children, the legal adoption order and/or other relevant documents will need to be submitted.
S Pass applicants will need to fulfill some additional requirements to ensure that their applications are successful:
- Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least 5,000 SGD per month. The relevant supporting documents must be submitted along with the Dependant’s Pass application.
- Children of a school going age who want to enter the Public Schooling System will be required to pass the AEIS (Admission Exercise for International Students).
Singapore Dependant’s Pass applications may accompany the Employment Pass or S Pass application or may be submitted at a later date as long as the documents are endorsed with a reputable Singaporean company’s stamp or seal, acting as sponsor for the applicant.
